Manarola is the classic among the Cinque Terre, which combines all expectations and is therefore our personal favorite. From the semicircle of the harbour, the colourful pastel-coloured houses nestle above and next to each other on the steep rock, the narrow streets are partly only picturesque stairs. <\/p>\n\n
In the natural harbour a rock rises up, which is used by locals and also some brave tourists for “cliff jumping”. If you don’t have your own bathing suit, you should at least sit on the harbour wall for a while and treat yourself to this spectacle or simply enjoy the view and the sun.<\/p>\n\n
Manarola was a well-known artists’ place for a long time, e.g. Renato Birolli (20th century) painted and lived here.<\/p>\n\n
A highlight of Manarola (if not of every trip to the Cinque Terre) is the visit of the terrace lokal Nessun Dorma (see also our separate tip): From the harbor you follow the climb and are rewarded with delicious food, refreshing long drinks and a breathtaking view over the harbor and the village. Not an insider tip, so be sure to reserve – but then the perfect pleasure!<\/p>\n\n
