The artist, who was born in Freiburg in 1961 and now lives in Berlin and New Zealand, is interested in how the painted image affects our society today: how it can become present in a certain place. The artist uses the spray technique to realize her painting on a wide variety of surfaces and materials, by means of fine mists of paint, subtle gradients and harsh contrasts. The ink supply is almost endless, so that you can paint over long distances without ever having to put the tool down.<\/p>\n\n
For the Albertina, Katharina Grosse has created a walk-in picture that stretches across the wall, folded foils, ceiling and floor \u2013 spreading out throughout the room. Like wild thinking, it is experimental and unpredictable.
